Matt Ives — Founder & CEO
I’m the CEO of Parcel Optimizer, a systems architect, and an operator with more than 25 years of experience leading software, data, and business systems.
I trained in physics and mathematics at Portland State and started my career helping companies turn technology into practical tools. I went on to lead product for a pharmacy software company, advise businesses on technology and marketing, and spend eleven years as CEO of Preferati, a consultancy that delivered custom software and data projects for hundreds of clients.
One engagement changed the course of my career. For 13 years, I led the design, development, and operation of FirstMile’s complete parcel billing system. The work covered carrier rating, invoicing, reconciliation, reporting, and the data behind them. It gave me an inside, production-scale view of how parcel pricing and billing actually work.
That experience led me to found Parcel Optimizer. We combine a parcel billing engine, AI, and our Parcel Data MCP to help shippers verify carrier charges, compare rate scenarios, manage billing, and get answers from their own data, without commissions or revenue sharing.
I work where business, data, and technology meet. I translate complex workflows into practical systems, align technical teams with business goals, and stay close to the people using what we create. I also hold an ICF ACC credential and an iNLP coaching certification, training that has informed how I lead, manage, and listen.
